ABOUT MOLLY ROBBINS

 

Molly Robbins is a second-year PhD student in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University. She is a member of Dr. Paula Brochu's lab, SCP (Social and Clinical Psychology) and Dr. Janell Mensinger's lab, CHEERS (Connecting to Heal Eating distress through Empowerment & Resilience for all Sizes). She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Counseling at Ithaca College. Following her undergraduate degree, she worked for four years as a victim advocate-counselor at an advocacy center in upstate NY, supporting survivors of intimate partner violence, trafficking, sexual assault, and sexual abuse. After becoming a certified yoga instructor during the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked as a yoga teacher and support staff in a partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient program for eating disorders. Molly is passionate about Health at Every Size and intersectional social justice and has an interest in creating equitable, accessible, affirming, and effective treatment for eating disorders in people of all sizes and identities. Outside of school, Molly enjoys making music, advocacy, and spending time with her dog Mylo.

What's Molly Up To Lately?

Molly is currently is working on a project about weight-related terminology preference. Her research-rabbit-holes lately have consisted of literature about diabetes stigma, anxiety sensitivity, interoception, neurodiveristy affirming care, fat identity, and eating disorder diagnosis. She is thrilled to be presenting her terminology research and a workshop about diabetes at the International Conference on Eating Disorders (ICED) later this spring.  Molly is currently a practicum student in the Psychological Services Center at Nova within the Psychological Services for Emotional Distress (PSED) clinic, treating psychosis, personality disorders, and trauma. Molly also works part time as a clinical care partner and group facilitator in a treatment center in Miami.
